Environment and Climate: AIRA International Center for Astronomy Participates in First Academic Forum on Astronomy and Space Technology

Al-Azhar International Center for Forensic Astronomy and Space Sciences at the Islamic Research Academy (AIRA) participates in the first scientific forum organized by Sohag University in cooperation with the Center, under the patronage of the Grand Imam, Professor  Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif.

This forum is considered one of the first academic forums among the Egyptian universities, especially in Upper Egypt. It aims to integrate sciences of religion with sciences of nature and life. This is to be achieved within the framework of sustainable development goals  in preparation for the national dialogue and for hosting the climate summit "COP 27", which is one of the most important achievements of the new republic, locally and internationally, under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

This scientific, cultural, and awareness-raising forum will be held with the participation of Dawah and academic field experts to discuss a set of important societal issues, at the top of which are climate changes. The forum aims to show the impact of space technology on climate changes and the consequent atmospheric and cosmic phenomena and their impact on the times of worship around the world.

The forum will discuss the following themes:

- The role of astronomy and space technology in countering climate changes and achieving goals of sustainable development (development effect of the solar energy on climate changes – problems and solutions).

- Role of Religions and heavenly messages in preserving the environment (The impact of climate change on the Islamic heritage and Egyptian Civilization - the effect of climate change on some Islamic worship rulings).

- The role of Egyptian and Arab youth in supporting countries’ initiatives towards climate change.

- Policies on and legal procedures for protecting the environment to confront climate change.
