The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Prof. Ahmed al-Tayeb, received, on Tuesday, Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, and a high-level ecclesiastical delegation to congratulate him and all Muslims on the occasion of Eid al-Adha (Sacrifice Feast). In addition, His Holiness wished the Grand Imam good health and for Egypt and Egyptians long-term stability and security.
On his part, the Grand Imam expressed his happiness with the visit, wishing His Holiness and Christian brothers good health and for our beloved Egypt lasting stability and prosperity. The Grand Imam also stressed that such religious feasts and occasions are good chances for communication, exchanging congratulations, coordinating efforts and sharing views on confronting vicious attacks against morals and values.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Muhammad Al-Duwainy, Deputy of the Grand Imam, Prof. Muhammad al-Mahrasawy, President of Al-Azhar University, Prof. Nazir Ayad, Secretary General of the Islamic Research Academy, and Prof. Muhammad Abu Zaid Al-Amir, Vice President of Al-Azhar University.
