The seventh of Ramadan remains a dear memory to my heart and the hearts of each Azhari and all the Muslims. On this day in 361 AH, the first Friday prayer was held at Al-Azhar Mosque. Over more than a thousand years, it has since then been the center of knowledge and the beacon of moderation. Students from all over the world come to Al-Azhar to learn from its scholars both the Islamic and worldly disciplines. They graduate to be representatives for Al-Azhar, promoting the tolerant message of Islam throughout the world. May Allah protect Al-Azhar and bless it with more glory and honor.
