The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar praises the Thai Ambassador’s activities with his compatriots studying at Al-Azhar
On Monday, June 7, during his meeting with Mr. Puttaporn Ewtoksan, the Kingdom of Thailand’s Ambassador in Cairo, in Al-Azhar Headquarters, Al-Azhar’s Grand Imam Prof. Aḥmad Aṭ-Ṭayyeb, praised the Ambassador’s activities and interaction with his compatriots studying at Al-Azhar, and the events organized by the embassy inside the Islamic Missionary Student Hostel. His Eminence stressed that Al-Azhar is proud of its students and graduates, and that it would never neglect providing all aspects of support to all students.
On his part, the Thai Ambassador thanked the Grand Imam for his care of the Thai students, and for meeting them always in his office and his own residence in Luxor. He confirmed that such attitude increases their love and pride in their belonging to this institution, and reflects the universality and openness of Al-Azhar.
The Ambassador also discussed with the Grand Imam the redistribution of scholarships offered to Thai students between Islamic, Arabic and scientific studies. The Grand Imam welcomed the idea and said, “The allocation of scholarships is according to whatever serves the interest of the country sending the students”.
