AIRA Secretary-General Participates in Inaugurating the Alexandria International Book Fair
The Secretary-General of the Islamic Research Academy (AIRA), Dr. Nazir Ayyad, confirms that Al-Azhar pavilion presents various academic and public activities in this fair.
During his participation in the inauguration activities, the Secretary-General said that the presence of Al-Azhar, with all its sectors, at the Alexandrina International Book Fair represents a continuation of the success achieved by Al-Azhar pavilion at the Cairo International Book Fair. It has always witnessed a great demand for its various publications, which include: AIRA publications which present more than one hundred and forty titles, in addition to the publications of the Council of Senior Scholars, the Heritage Revival Office, Al-Azhar Mosque, the Translation Center, and Al-Azhar Observatory.
In this respect, The Secretary-General said that Al-Azhar Al-Sharif under the leadership of the Grand Imam, Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif spares no effort to enrich citizens’ awareness, establish societal peace and combat extremist ideology. It also works to establish the values of citizenship, preserve the Egyptian identity and culture and correct the misconceptions and ideas that violent and extremist groups adopt and try to spread among people.
Ayyad stated that the Al-Azhar pavilion at the Alexandrina International Book Fair is witnessing a great diversity and added that the various sectors of Al-Azhar participate with their academic publications. In addition, activities and events are implemented inside the pavilion such as: Arabic calligraphy, art workshops, and the manuscript section.
The pavilion also includes a section for Fatwa wherein members of Al-Azhar Main Fatwa Committee answer visitors’ questions and inquiries about Sharia, domestic relations, and other issues.
