Prof. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and the President of the Muslim Council of Elders, arrived yesterday evening, Saturday13 Oct., in Bologna to begin a four-day visit to Italy. This is the last stop on his foreign tour that included Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
During the visit, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar will participate in an international conference about “Religion and Culture” to be held in Bologna, Italy, and attended by high profile religious leaders and intellectuals from all over the world. It is also scheduled that prof. Al-Tayeb will deliver a speech at the University of Bologne, the oldest university in Europe. The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar will conclude his visit with meetings with senior Italian officials in Rome.
