The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar affirms:
* Al-Azhar is utterly determined to combat deviant thoughts and is ready to train the Imams of France
“The West is in dire need for making use of Al-Azhar efforts … Al-Azhar Grand Imam’s visit to the Bataclan is a great humane situation,” says Jean-Frédéric Poisson
His eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayyeb, Al-Azhar Grand Imam and the Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders met with Jean-Frédéric Poisson, who chairs an action group on combating Daesh, vice president of the committee of law in the National Assembly of France and head of the Christian Democratic Party.
During the meeting, Al-Azhar Grand Imam affirmed that Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, adopting various approaches, is utterly determined to combat deviant thoughts, pointing out that Al-Azhar has actually established an Observer in eight languages to answer the misconceptions of Daesh and to correct the deviant ideas and thoughts in the minds of youths. His eminence the Grand Imam further added that the soon future will witness the development of Al-Azhar Observer by adding other languages.
In the same vein, Al-Tayyeb said, “We have also many means to use in combating such deviant thoughts like conferences, symposia and books.” “We have also the Da‘wah convoys and Peace emissaries which visit the world’s different countries to affirm the tolerance of Islam and calling to peace and co-existence,” Al-Tayyeb added.
In the same connection, his eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar affirmed that Al-Azhar Al-Sharif is ready to train the Imams of France
according to the middle and tolerant course of Islam, pointing out the necessity of drawing up one particular list to which all Mosques must adhere in such a way that achieves the freedom of Mosques and the independency of the society.
His eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar stressed that calling people to Islam shall be in the frame of wisdom and good admonition. Islamic call has never been at any time a call for killing, displacement or bloodshed or any other crime perpetuated by the terrorist groups which in no way demonstrate the tolerance of Islam.
On his part, Poisson expressed his thanks to the Grand Imam, stressing that this visit is made at its due time. He also praised the efforts exerted by Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in spreading moderation and peace and combating the radical thought, pointing out that the West is in dire need for capitalizing on and promoting such efforts and spreading them among the youth in order to immune them against the extremist thought.
Poisson expressed his appreciation for the visit paid by the Grand Imam to Bataclan theatre, stressing that it marks a great humanitarian stance. He also pointed out that this visit will have a great impact on the French people who look at Al-Azhar as a symbol for moderation.
