The US State Department spokesperson, Mathew Miller, announced that the US has decided not to restrict military aid to an Israeli battalion accused of human rights violations after it concluded that they were “effectively remediated”.
Netzah Yehuda, a battalion that originally operated in the West Bank but was transferred to the Golan Heights in 2022, along with other 4 combating units were accused by the US of committing serious violations of Human rights against Palestinians in the West Bank before the war on Gaza.
However, the US concluded in April that the other four units were cleared of human rights violations after presenting proof of “effectively’ responding to those violations. Apparently, with the decision to give the military aid to the Netzah Yehuda, the Ultra-Orthodox unit, the US has also concluded that this unit is clear of human rights violations accusations.
On its part, Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism (AOCE) questions the criteria according to which the US has determined that the violations were “effectively remediated”. What is really evidentially concluded here is that laws and standards recognized and ratified by world nations are condoned, even desecrated, when it comes to the Zionist killing machine. Blindly supportive world powers should distance themselves from being accomplices to crimes against humanity and genocide in Gaza. Otherwise, the remaining credibility and honor of theirs will keep withering beyond recovery. Global leadership is, and should always be, different from mere electoral politics.
