As a part of Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism's (AOCE) endeavors to protect the younger generations from deceptive thoughts, AOCE launched an initiative called “Know More” for pre-university education to empower the ability of self-intellectual protection against any challenges they may face amid the accelerating technological advancement on social media. The “Know More” initiative organized an awareness symposium entitled “The Importance of Religion for Human Beings,” at Al-Manarh girls’ school.
The symposium discussed the importance of religion for humanity, providing a good “value” that provokes ultimate great goals away from earthly ambitions that have nothing to do with noble human values. Religion provides humans with values like virtue, charity, cooperation, respect, truth, human dignity, patriotism, dialogue, upholding kinship ties, mercy, coexistence, knowledge, tolerance, etc.
It is worth noting that AOCE organized the second season of the summer program “Know More” last September, to fortify the young generations’ tools of knowledge and the ability to apply human values in their daily lives. The program lasted for three days for students aged 15- 18 years old, addressing the relationship between both genders under Islamic teachings, how to be protected from the risk of deep internet, and the most prominent ways to invest time along the ongoing addiction of the internet.
