The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar leads prayer in the largest Mosque in Kazakhstan

Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and the president of the Muslim Council of Elders paid a visit yesterday, Tuesday 9 October, to Hazrat al-Sultan Mosque, the largest mosque in Kazakhstan and one of the largest mosques in Asia in general. The Mosque is considered an artistic jewel that reflects the richness and diversity of Islamic architecture. Upon his arrival at the mosque, he was received by Sheikh the Grand Mufti of Kazakhstan as well as a number of religious leaders, imams and Al-Azhar Kazakh graduates. The Grand Imam of Al-Azhar led the ‘Ishaa’ prayer and delivered a short sermon, in which he urged imams and callers to Islam to adhere to the methodology of moderation as they have learnt at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. He also called upon them to call people to Islam with wisdom and good admonishing and avoid all aspects of hardship and violence.
Prof. Al-Tayeb indicated that when the preacher follows methodology in calling people to Islam and does not achieve the desired outcome, he should not try to force those whom he call to follow what he says. Allah, Almighty, says “Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who strays from His way, and He is most knowing of the [rightly] guided”. On his part, the Grand Mufti of Kazakhstan expressed his pleasure of the visit of the Grad Imam of Al-Azhar and his appreciation to the efforts exerted by Al-Azhar to spread the proper Islamic teachings all over the world.
