The Grand Imam Meets the Eldest Azharite Scholar

The Grand Imam Dr. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Sheikh Al-Azhar received Sheikh Mo’awad ‘Awad Ibrahim, the eldest scholar of Al-Azhar, who was born in 1330 H., 1912 and graduated from the Faculty of Usul El Din in 1939.

His eminence the Grand Imam expressed his appreciation of the scholarly efforts of Sheikh Mo’awad, emphasizing that Al-Azhar is ready to publish his books, articles and collection of poems as well as other parts of his legacy which enriched the Islamic library. The Grand Imam said that this is a portion of his due rights from Al-Azhar, for he worked in service of the moderate message of Al-Azhar for a whole century.

On his part, Sheikh Mo’awad said that he spent his years serving the Islamic da’wa following the moderate approach of Al-Azhar. He also spoke of the scholars and sheikhs which he witnessed, such as Sheikh Mahmoud Abu Daqiqa. Of his most significant books are (Insaniet Al-‘Ebadat), (Thughour Al-Islam), (Al-Islam wal Usra Al-Sa’eeda) and (Al-Awlad Wada’ei Allah ‘Endana). His most important articles and poems are published in Al-Azhar magazine and in several Islamic magazines around the world. Sheikh Mo’awad donated his huge book collection to Al-Azhar.
