Al-Azhar Communicates with Religious Institutions to bring back the smile on the faces of the poor

The Grand Imam Dr. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Sheikh Al-Azhar received a delegation from the Church of Sweden headed by Archbishop Antje Jackelen, Archbishop of the Church of Sweden.

His eminence the Grand Imam stated that in order for peace to be established in the world, peace must be first made among the leaders of the different religions. Therefore, Al-Azhar took action and communicated with the Church of Canterbury, the Vatican, the World Council of Churches, and several churches and religious institutions in order to reestablish peace and bring back the smile on the faces of the poor and the orphans who suffer the consequences of narrow policies that seek to achieve their interests at the expense of the poor and needy, and of their lives and pains.

His eminence emphasized that there is a unique example in communication and coexistence in Egypt, namely among Muslims and Christians. Al-Azhar together with the churches of Egypt, bring this example to the world through the Home of the Egyptian Family, emphasizing that citizenship is the basis that unites all citizens of different religions.

On her part, Archbishop Antje Jackelen, emphasized her keenness on knowing the vision of Al-Azhar towards establishing peace and countering extremism, terrorism and crimes committed in the name of religion. Archbishop Jackelen added that in all religions there are texts that are at many times misinterpreted to justify violence, despite the fact that religions are in truth, innocent of the criminal acts committed in their name.
