The Grand Imam Dr. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Sheikh Al-Azhar received H.E. Mushtaq Ali Shah, Ambassador of Pakistan to Egypt.

His eminence emphasized that Al-Azhar supports Muslim nations and communities in academic fields as well as in da’wa, stating that there are more than forty thousand students from the Muslim world studying at Al-Azhar. Sheikh Al-Azhar also emphasized that there are training programs for imams and preachers focused on dealing with current issues and problems such as extremism, terrorism and coexistence among the various groups and factions in Muslim communities.

On his part, H.E. the ambassador of Pakistan said that the Pakistani people see his eminence the Grand Imam as the most significant Muslim personality as he represents Al-Azhar, the reference of all Muslims around the world. H.E. the ambassador commended the efforts of Al-Azhar in supporting social stability and coexistence in Muslim nations. H.E. also commended the tours of the Grand Imam around the world which contributed in correcting the image of Islam that was distorted by the practices of terrorist groups.
