The Grand Imam Dr. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Sheikh Al-Azhar met with H.E. Yoon, Soon-Gu, Ambassador of South Korea to Egypt.
His eminence, the Grand Imam welcomed the South Korean ambassador at Al-Azhar and emphasized the readiness of Al-Azhar to grant scholarships to Muslim students in South Korea to study at Al-Azhar and learn the Arabic language through Al-Azhar center for teaching Arabic to non-Arabic speakers. Moreover, Al-Azhar is ready to establish a center for teaching Arabic in South Korea and presenting true Islam, to guarantee stability and spread love and peace among people.
On his part, H.E. the South Korean ambassador expressed the appreciation of his nation to the role played by Al-Azhar in countering extremist thought, emphasizing that the relations between Egypt and Korea which have been present for more than twenty years, witness a great progress in all fields.
H.E. Ambassador Yoon, Soon-Gu discussed the situation of Muslims in South Korea, pointing out that Islam entered Korea in the ninth century, and there are universities which teach the Arabic language. H.E. the ambassador expressed his aspirations of expanding cooperation between Al-Azhar and his nation on both the educational and cultural levels
