The Grand Imam Dr. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Sheikh Al-Azhar received H.E. Mohamed Abul Kheir, the new Egyptian ambassador to Singapore.

His eminence the Grand Imam emphasized that the students and graduates of Al-Azhar from Singapore and the rest of the world, are the ambassadors of Al-Azhar to their nations, which is the reason why Al-Azhar pays close and direct attention to the issues and affairs of those students while at Al-Azhar. The Grand Imam stressed the readiness of Al-Azhar to support the Singaporean people in the various aspects of education, da’wa and culture, in addition to training Singaporean imams in a special program that raises awareness regarding current issues and events and how to deal with them, in addition to countering terrorist thought.

On his part, Ambassador Abul Kheir expressed his appreciation of the role played by Al-Azhar in promoting the moderation of Islam, as well as the efforts of the Grand Imam in establishing world peace. Ambassador Abul Kheir also emphasized his keenness on continuous cooperation and coordination with the great institution of Al-Azhar, being the beacon of moderate thought in the world.
