The Grand Imam Dr. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Sheikh Al-Azhar received a delegation from the European Conservatives and Reformists Group, of the European Parliament.

The Grand Imam emphasized that religions could not be judged by the actions of a few. His eminence emphasized that Al-Azhar solidifies further the relationship between Muslims and Christians in Egypt who have lived together for fourteen centuries in safety and peace, emphasizing the unity of the Egyptian people.

The Grand Imam also pointed out that the Home of the Egyptian Family represents a successful Egyptian example that gathers under its umbrella scholars and priests to establish the principle of citizenship and peace among Egyptians. Sheikh Al-Azhar also stressed that Islam categorically forbids any attack on places of worship of any religion.

His eminence added that Islam serves the welfare and interests of man before any other interest, and relates the behavior and action of man to ethics and morals, being the higher umbrella of all laws and legislations. Moreover, his eminence emphasized that Islam respects all cultures and civilizations without the force or authority of a certain culture over another.

On their part, the delegation members expressed their appreciation of Al-Azhar and emphasized that they came to visit Al-Azhar to discuss matters that achieve prosperity for people.
