Al-Azhar Approach Safeguards African Peoples from Danger of Extremist Thought

The Grand Imam Dr. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Sheikh Al-Azhar received a Kenyan delegation headed by Sheikh Ahmad Badawy, Head of the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims.

His eminence the Grand Imam stated that Al-Azhar confronts thoughts and trends which wrong Islam and Muslims, and emphasized that Islam and other religions are innocent of this brutally depicted image, for Allah almighty revealed religions for the goodness and happiness of mankind.

His eminence emphasized the readiness of Al-Azhar to multiply efforts to support Muslims in Kenya though increasing scholarships to Kenyan students at Al-Azhar, and training Kenyan imams on confronting current issues and problems.

On their part, the delegation members commended the efforts exerted by Al-Azhar in Kenya and in Africa in general, in aspects of education and da’wa as well as relief aid. The delegation members emphasized that the moderate approach of Al-Azhar has safeguarded social stability in Africa for long decades and continues to be the only guarantee for protecting African peoples from the danger of extremist thought.
