AOCE Receives a Delegation of University Students for a Training on Peace

In collaboration with the Cairo Center for Conflict Resolution and Peacekeeping in Africa (CCCPA), Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism (AOCE) received a delegation of university students participating in a peace training program. The delegation included thirty trainees from Egyptian universities as part of the second round of the Peace and Security Training Program organized by CCCPA from August 17 to 21, 2025. The visit came within the framework of implementing the memorandum of understanding signed between the two institutions.
The program aims to enhance the ability of Egyptian youth to grasp the foundations of peace and security and their relation to reconstruction and development processes. It crystallizes Egypt’s pivotal role in conflict resolution and peacebuilding, as well as its effective contribution to combating extremism that leads to terrorism both regionally and globally.
Therefore, the program adopts an interactive approach that combines lectures, workshops, and field visits to relevant institutions, such as the Al-Azhar Observatory and the Suez Canal Authority. During the visit, AOCE organized three specialized lectures for students, including:
1-     Combating Extremism in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
2-     The Palestinian Issue: Between the Brutality of the Zionist Occupation and the Resilience of the People
3-     Al-Azhar's Vision for World Peace and Coexistence: " The Document on Human Fraternity:  a Model"
Dr. Reham Salama, the General Director of AOCE, welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the Observatory's dedication to maintaining this fruitful cooperation, which began with the program's first cycle in December 2024. The delegation was acquainted with the Observatory's activities and mechanisms, particularly its effort to address misconceptions and prevent extremism. It is worth noting that the program's second cycle emphasizes Egypt's role in fostering, sustaining, and building peace in a turbulent world marked by rapidly escalating crises. Understanding the nature of conflicts, their underlying causes, and effective resolution strategies is critical.
